About The Role
Platforms and infrastructure we are responsible for is nationally critical with over 10 million customers, enabling them to connect to their Broadband, Wi-Fi, and various hybrid products and services. The service data our platforms generate supports many activities such as cyber defence, capacity and network management, Quality of Service analysis and more! We are transforming our platforms to ensure we make the best use of the latest cloud technologies putting automation and data at the heart of everything we do.
The Data and Authentication Team brings together Design, Development, Test and Technical Services all under one roof. Collectively we work in an Agile/Scrum model, uniquely positioning us to exploit the best of SRE/DevOps practices.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Resolve complex and strategic issues using your technical knowledge, developing bespoke solutions, especially in untested technologies or products with large-scale impact.
- Write, test, and maintain code, addressing complex aspects independently, and communicate effectively with engineering professionals.
- Champion emerging trends and changes in software engineering, continuously sharing knowledge with the team.
- Support and contribute our ambitious technical roadmap aligning with business needs, engineering goals, and partner requirements.
- Foster an engineering culture that promotes innovation, creativity, predictability, and reliability in product development.
- Promote efficiency and delivery focus by practicing and contributing to our agile way of working.
- Directly impact customers by supporting critical projects, stakeholder relationships, and expectations.
- Actively contribute to the overall culture and well-being of the teams.

Essential Skills / Experience
- Experience in Software Solution Development
- Strong understanding of fundamentals for Linux, Security, Virtualisation, Networks
- Experience with Ruby, Python or Java
- Experience in building, maintaining and orchestrating docker containers with docker-compose, Kubernetes.
- Experience in Full-Stack software development
- Experience with Ruby, Python or Java
- Experience with AWS or GCP
Desirable Skills / Experience
- Understanding of CI/CD concepts and experience with automated pipelines
- Experience of working with Cloud technologies and providers
- Basic knowledge of network stack in cloud: this would include services such as VPC, Security groups and ACLs, topology and subnets, VPN etc.
- Working with virtual instances on cloud: VMs, EC2, image to instance
