Lead the Future of Cloud-Based Data Engineering
We're partnering with a highly successful technology business looking for an experienced Software Development Team Lead to lead a specialist engineering team responsible for delivering business-critical data solutions within a highly regulated, high-volume environment.
This is a fantastic opportunity to combine hands-on technical leadership with people management, helping drive the migration from traditional SQL-based platforms to a modern Google Cloud Platform (GCP) architecture while embracing AI-enabled engineering practices.
If you're an experienced technical leader who enjoys mentoring engineers, remaining close to the technology, and driving continuous improvement, this could be the ideal next step.
The Opportunity
You'll lead a small, highly skilled software engineering team, taking ownership of delivery while remaining technically involved in solution design, coaching, and technical decision-making.
Working closely with architecture, compliance, data, and business stakeholders, you'll help shape the evolution of a modern cloud-based data platform, ensuring solutions are scalable, performant, and delivered to exceptionally high-quality standards.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing technical leadership with people development and wants to help build a collaborative, high-performing engineering culture.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Software Engineers through regular coaching, 1-1s, and career development.
- Act as a technical role model, remaining hands-on where required to support the team.
- Drive delivery across multiple concurrent workstreams within a fast-paced Agile environment.
- Support the migration of existing SQL-based solutions into Google Cloud Platform.
- Champion engineering best practice, code quality, testing, and continuous improvement.
- Work closely with architects and stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Identify delivery risks, dependencies, and technical challenges early, ensuring successful outcomes.
- Introduce and promote AI-enabled engineering tools and ways of working to improve productivity and software quality.
- Foster a collaborative, supportive, and high-performing team culture.

Iβm in my final year doing Economics and I donβt know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer β it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) donβt need a masters. Letβs look at the ones youβd be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet β that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
