Software Support Engineer – 2nd Line (UK)

Dematic’s Global Software Organisation provides intelligent warehouse execution software to automated and innovative distribution centres and warehouse environments. Our software lets clients control automated processes and gain real-time operational visibility.

As part of the Software Support Team in the UK, you’ll provide 2nd level technical support to customers, tackling complex issues requiring analytical problem-solving. You’ll collaborate with a dedicated UK-based team while sharing on-call duties with global software teams to ensure premium software support and development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver 2nd line IT/software support to both new and established clients, resolving complex customer challenges.
  • Document and track service cases with clear problem descriptions and solutions.
  • Collaborate with functional teams to provide feedback on software projects, including:
    • Commissioning and after-go-live support for international projects.
    • Ongoing support for existing customers.
  • Work on tailored software development for:
    • WCS (Warehouse Control Systems), MFC (Material Flow Control), and OFS (Order Fulfillment Systems) (including PTL & PbV components).
  • Handle customer change requests methodically.
  • Support post-release updates and optimisations for deployed systems.

Qualifications & Experience

Technical Skills

  • Advanced software architecture/engineering knowledge with hands-on experience in Java development.
  • Oracle database management ( comfortable in querying, troubleshooting, and optimising relational structures).
  • Familiarity with Warehouse Management/Execution Systems (a strong advantage).
  • Experience in 2nd line IT or software support functions (preferably problem-solving oriented).
  • Willingness to contribute to 24/7 on-call rotations and comply with remote availability schedules.
  • Ability to travel when needed for support escalation or team meetings.
