Software Team Leader – Integrated Sensors & Protection (Counter-UAS Capability)

Salary Range: £65,000 - £80,000

Leonardo UK operates a grade-based salary framework with broad bands. The salary range reflects the approved grade for this role and is benchmarked against the external market.

Your Impact

We are looking for a Software Team Leader to join the Integrated Sensors & Protection line of business. This role will focus on developing and advancing operationally-proven, innovative, scalable, layered Counter-UAS (CUAS) capabilities. Uncrewed Air Systems (UAS) pose an evolving threat across military and civilian scenarios, and we are expanding our team to accelerate enhancements.

Our technology leverages Leonardo’s best-of-breed approach, combining:

  • Advanced sensing and warning capabilities (via electro-optical sensors)
  • Cutting-edge radio frequency effector development

This demands innovative software development, incorporating the latest techniques and tools. We seek a leader who shares our challenge—pushing boundaries with state-of-the-art solutions to develop next-generation technologies.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead a team in the design, development, and deployment of scalable, layered CUAS software solutions
  • Drive safety-critical software development aligned with electrochemical and air defence systems
  • Implement agile methodologies to accelerate innovation and problem-solving
  • Work with stakeholders across the organisation and external partners to deliver mission-critical technical innovations
  • Ensure regulatory compliance (UK government screening requirements apply)

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
