Job Description

Salary Range: £65,000 - £80,000

Leonardo UK operates a grade-based salary framework with broad bands. Your Impact

We are looking for a Software Team Leader to join our Integrated Sensors & Protection line of Business. We are developing and innovating with the latest methods, tools, and techniques to develop new capabilities that are at the forefront of what is possible today.

What You Will Do

You would be leading the team developing Leonardo’s operationally-proven, innovative, scalable, layered Counter-UAS (CUAS) capability. Un-crewed Air Systems (UAS) present a rapidly-evolving threat in both military warfare and civilian scenarios and we are expanding our team to further accelerate our ongoing capability enhancements. Our technology uniquely exploits Leonardo’s best of breed approach, delivering extensive performance in sensing and warning capabilities, exploiting the company’s electro optical sensor package and advanced radio frequency effector technology. This requires innovative software development approaches employing the latest techniques and we are looking to talk those interested in sharing our challenge, using ‘state of the art’ solutions and developing the next generation technologies.

What You’ll Bring

  • Team Leadership and ‘hands-on’ software development.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and behaviors.
  • Effective communication capability in all aspects.
  • Working knowledge of Agile techniques.
  • Familiarity with formal problem-solving methods.
  • Capability to work with and through formal requirements.
  • Ability to work within formal engineering processes as required.
  • Proven delivery capability in the context of complex activity.
  • Appreciation of safety-critical software development.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
