Software Test Engineer (C++)

Salary: £110,000 - £130,000 + bonus

The Role
This is a rare opportunity to shape testing from the ground up inside a high-performance trading environment. You will sit directly alongside a C++ engineering team working on business-critical systems, owning how quality is defined, measured, and delivered as the platform evolves.
The remit goes well beyond writing tests. You will influence engineering practices, embed testing into design, and build out a testing approach that can keep pace with rapid, iterative development.

What You Will Be Doing
- Designing and building automated test suites in C++ across unit, integration, and system levels
- Driving the overall testing approach for a growing engineering function, setting standards and direction
- Working closely with developers to ensure new features are built with testing in mind
- Exploring complex system behaviour to uncover edge cases and failure scenarios
- Embedding testing into continuous delivery workflows with frequent automated runs
- Pairing with engineers to improve coverage, reduce risk, and share knowledge across the team
What You Will Bring
- Strong experience writing tests in modern C++ within a Linux or Unix environment
- A track record of building clean, maintainable, and well-structured test suites
- Confidence working independently and defining your own approach to quality engineering
- Ability to translate functional requirements into effective test coverage
- Familiarity with continuous integration and automated pipelines
- Broader interest in system behaviour, including networking concepts or distributed environments
