Role Overview

Software Validation Technician/Engineer

Key Responsibilities

  • Test firmware releases against user requirements, validating them against their specifications.
  • Develop and maintain test procedures, scripts, and systems to support the testing process.
  • Prepare documentation of test results, evidencing firmware validation.
  • Review documentation and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams on firmware functionality and implementation, including:
    • Software Engineers
    • Design Engineers
    • Product Management
  • Log, track, and report defects through to resolution, working with engineering teams to verify fixes.
  • Support root cause analysis and fault-finding on firmware or hardware-related issues.

Essential Requirements

  • Technical background.
  • Strong communication and teamworking skills.
  • Methodical, logical approach to work.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and schematics.

Desirable

  • Background in Electrical, Electronic, or Software Engineering
  • Experience with AC variable speed drives.
  • Fault-finding experience.
  • Familiarity with version control systems.
  • Understanding of relevant industry standards, e.g., IEC 61800.
