Bellway Software Tester Opportunity
Bellway is looking for a Software Tester to join our IT team at Group Head Office in Newcastle upon Tyne. This is a newly created role and an exciting opportunity to help shape the way we test, improve and deliver high-quality software solutions across the business.
This is a great opportunity to join a supportive IT team within a well-established national business, taking on a new role where you can help shape testing standards and make a visible contribution to the quality of our systems. You will work with colleagues across the business, gain exposure to a variety of applications and play a key role in supporting continuous improvement.
The Role
Working as part of our IT team and reporting to the Head of Development, you will support the delivery of software changes and enhancements across a range of web applications, Windows applications and reports. You will work closely with developers and business stakeholders to understand requirements, test new functionality, identify defects early and help maintain a high standard of software quality.
This role would suit someone who enjoys problem solving, has strong attention to detail and takes pride in making sure systems work as they should for the people who use them.
We are looking for someone with experience in manual software testing who can bring a methodical, collaborative and quality-focused approach to the role.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
