Software Testing Engineer

Salary: £42,000 - £50,000 DOE + Bonus + Excellent Benefits

Location: Stevenage

Working Pattern: 3-4 days per week on-site

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Software Testing Engineer to join a leading UK defence organisation developing advanced simulation and experimentation technology. Working within a specialist integration and validation team, you'll help ensure complex software products are fully tested, integrated and ready for deployment across cutting-edge defence programmes.

This role offers the opportunity to work across the complete software lifecycle, from early development and integration through to formal qualification, customer demonstrations and final release, within a collaborative Agile engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver software testing activities across multiple projects.
  • Develop test strategies, plans and specifications based on system requirements and architecture.
  • Execute functional and system-level testing, identifying and investigating software defects.
  • Analyse software logs and test data to verify functionality and compliance.
  • Produce clear technical reports to support verification, certification and software release.
  • Support software integration, demonstrations and customer trials alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes and quality standards.

What We're Looking For:

  • Commercial experience in software testing, systems proving or verification and validation.
  • Python scripting experience.
  • Understanding of software testing methodologies and the software development lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Experience with tools such as GitLab, Jenkins, JIRA or IBM DOORS would be advantageous.
  • ISTQB certification or equivalent software testing experience is desirable.
