About the Role
This role blends office-based and site-based work, giving you hands-on experience in field surveys, data management, and technical reporting. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including Ground & Water, Nature Advisory, Landscape, and Sustainability, gaining exposure across multiple disciplines.
WSP offers flexible working, including home working and project site travel, with experienced mentors to guide your professional development.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting soil science surveys, including Agricultural Land Classification (ALC), soil resource assessments, and sampling for Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and construction projects.
- Assisting with data collection, management, and interpretation for technical reports and project deliverables.
- Contributing to high-impact reporting while liaising with clients and stakeholders under supervision.
- Working closely with soil scientists, environmental consultants, and project teams to develop technical expertise.
The role sits within WSP’s Earth & Environment team, part of a global organisation shaping future infrastructure and environmental sustainability.

A Typical Week
✅ Fieldwork – Soil surveys, sampling, and data collection (outdoor-based in varied conditions). ✅ Technical reporting – Support preparation of documents for planning, EIAs, and construction projects. ✅ Team collaboration – Learn from experienced professionals in soil science, environmental assessments, and agricultural land management.
Requirements & Qualifications
We invite applications from driven candidates with the following profile:
✔ Education – Degree in Soil Science, Environmental Science, Physical Geography, Geology, or a related discipline.
✔ Experience –
- Relevant fieldwork or consulting experience in soil science, environmental services, or land management.
- Fabricant القصر experience in AGR Land Classification (ALC), soil resource surveys, or environmental consultancy.
✔ Key Skills & Attributes –
- Strong fieldwork abilities with a willingness to work outdoors in challenging conditions.
- Understanding of UK environmental legislation, particularly its relevance to soil and development projects.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for reporting and stakeholder interactions.
- Teamwork – Proven ability to contribute effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Commitment to learning – Willingness to grow through training, mentorship, and hands-on experience.
- Basic GIS experience – Not essential, but advantageous.
✔ Professional Development –
- Membership/interest in organisations like the British Society of Soil Science (BSSS).
- Mobility requirement – Ability to travel to remote project sites within the UK as needed.
