Solar PV Maintenance Electrician (O&M)

Location: Exeter / South West
Salary: £40,000 – £48,000 + Company Van

Our client is a well-established and growing renewable energy contractor with an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality solar PV, battery storage and EV charging solutions across the South West. Due to continued expansion of their Operations & Maintenance division, they are looking to recruit a Solar PV Maintenance Electrician to join their experienced team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified electrician looking to develop a long-term career within the renewable energy sector. Whether you already have experience with solar PV systems or are looking to transition from a commercial electrical background, full product and industry training can be provided for the right candidate.

The Role

Working within the Operations & Maintenance team, you'll carry out planned maintenance, inspections, fault finding and repair work across a varied portfolio of domestic, commercial and ground-mounted solar PV installations throughout the South West.

This is a varied role offering a mix of independent and team-based working, with opportunities to expand your technical knowledge across renewable energy technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out inspections and preventative maintenance on solar PV installations.
  • Diagnose faults and complete electrical testing and repairs.
  • Replace and commission system components where required.
  • Support the installation and commissioning of solar PV and battery storage systems.
  • Provide technical support and advice to customers.
  • Produce accurate service reports and documentation.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers where appropriate.
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety at all times.

Essential Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation and AM2.
  • BS 7671 18th Edition qualification (or willingness to update).
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Commercial electrical installation or maintenance experience.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Solar PV and/or battery storage experience.
  • City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing.
  • SSSTS or SMSTS qualification.
  • Experience working on renewable energy systems. (Previous solar experience is advantageous but not essential. Full training will be provided for a motivated electrician looking to move into the renewable energy sector.)

Working Location

Based from the Exeter area, covering sites across the South West.

  • Predominantly local travel with occasional overnight stays as required (expenses paid).
  • Full-time, permanent position with a strong pipeline of ongoing work.
