Solar Technician – Level 3 Electrician (Kent)

Astute’s Renewables team is partnering with a key business and influential player in the global energy market. The company boasts a vast portfolio of renewable energy assets and fosters a brilliant company culture, prioritising employee well-being. We are seeking a Level 3 qualified Electrician to join our team and support large-scale ground mount solar assets across Kent.

This Solar Technician role offers:

  • Salary up to £40,000, including door-to-door payment and paid overtime / travel time

Responsibilities and Duties

Reporting to the Field Service Team Leader, the Solar Technician will:

  • Ensure optimal performance of large-scale renewable energy assets
  • Perform operations and maintenance (O&M) duties across solar and battery storage sites
  • Maintain strict adherence to all HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) requirements
  • Test DC and AC systems, identifying faults and tracing operational issues
  • Conduct firmware updates and use computerised systems to diagnose asset problems
  • Carry out regular inspections, maintenance and testing of equipment
  • Analyse data trends to identify recurring issues and propose operational improvements
  • Undertake occasional electrical works, including welfare cabins and associated electrics
  • Remain flexible to assist outside allocated regions when business demands arise

Requirements

Applicants must possess:

  • At least a Level 3 qualification in electrical installation
  • 2391 (testing and inspection of electrical installations) certification is highly preferred
  • Higher preference given to candidates with solar experience (not essential)
  • Any additional health and safety qualifications hold value
  • Full UK driving licence

Essential Personal Skills:

  • Enjoys working across multiple sites and locations
  • Prefers fault-finding and maintenance over installation tasks
  • Committed to contributing to the renewable energy sector
