Salary: £28,000 - £34,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Contract: Fixed-term, 24 months, September 2026 to September 2028.

Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week. Standard working hours are Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm.

Location: Remote with some expected ad-hoc travel to the London or Solent office as required.

Blue Marine Foundation seeks to protect and restore life in the ocean. Our mission is to see at least 30 per cent of the ocean protected by 2030 and the whole ocean sustainably managed. We support low-impact fishing and equitable use of the ocean and address overfishing – one of the world’s biggest environmental challenges.

We are looking for an organised, proactive and reliable individual to join our Restoration team as Solent Restoration Grant Administrator to help support the delivery of our exciting work across the Solent.

Responsibilities

This role requires someone who is experienced in grant administration as you’ll play an important role in providing administrative, reporting and financial support across the Solent Seascape Project and the Solent Oyster Restoration Project. Reporting to Solent Seascape Project Coordinator, your role and responsibilities will cover:

Administration

  • Providing day-to-day grant management and administrative support for delivery of the Solent Seascape Project and Solent Oyster Restoration Project.
  • Organising partnership meetings such as Working Group meetings, project update calls, steering committee meetings, as well as external stakeholder and community workshops and events.
  • Maintain an agreement register for project contracts, agreements and licences.
  • Maintain organised digital filing systems and clear documentation pathways for internal and external users.
  • Developing and managing compliance checklists to help ensure grant and funder requirements are met in relation to reporting, communications, branding and evidence collection.
  • Manage the project email inbox and responding to general enquiries.
  • Maintain project contact lists and databases.

Finance

  • Support financial administration for the Solent Seascape Project and Solent Oyster Restoration Project, including monitoring budgets, ensuring transactional accuracy, maintaining audit records and preparing timesheets as required.
  • Support preparation and submission of grant claims.

Reporting

  • Gathering and collating progress information from all project partners.
  • Supporting the development of reports and updates for the funders.
  • Tracking project progress against committed deliverables and milestones.
  • Coordinating partner invoicing and financial reporting.

Team contribution

  • Support the team in other appropriate tasks as and when required.
  • Uphold Blue Marine’s values and always embody this behaviour internally and externally.

Essential

  • Strong organisational and administrative skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proven experience supporting the management of project budgets, records, claims, timesheets, reporting evidence and audit trails.
  • Good working knowledge of using the Microsoft Office suite and shared document management systems.
  • Ability to coordinate meetings, take clear minutes and track actions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including confidence liaising with funders and working collaboratively with project partners.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise competing deadlines and work independently while remaining collaborative and supportive.

Desired

  • Experience working within diverse partnerships of multiple organisations and funders.
  • Experience supporting grant-funded projects, including funder claims and reporting.
  • Experience working in a charity, environmental, conservation or collaborative research project setting.
  • Familiarity with tracking contracts, agreements, permits and approvals.
  • Experience maintaining contact databases, inboxes or shared project systems.
  • Interest in nature conservation and restoration.
