Employment Law Solicitor – Stone King’s Education Team
The Opportunity
We are recruiting for an exciting opportunity to join Stone King’s highly regarded Employment team, with a special focus on supporting our national Education practice.
This role is perfect for a newly qualified solicitor with employment law experience who wants to develop their career in a supportive, collaborative environment. You’ll work with a diverse and purpose-driven client base, including:
- State schools
- Further education colleges
- Charities
- Social enterprises
- Businesses

Purpose of the Role
You’ll play a key role in advising clients on employment law matters, from everyday HR issues to complex Employment Tribunal cases. Collaborating closely with colleagues across the firm, you’ll:

What You’ll Be Doing
Core Responsibilities
- Advising clients on employment law matters, providing pragmatic and commercially focused solutions
- Managing your own Employment Tribunal caseload (with supervision where needed)
- Reviewing, drafting, and advising on contracts of employment and related documentation
- Supporting clients with disciplinary, grievance, and workplace investigations
- Advising on TUPE transfers, restructures, and organisational change projects
- Addressing discrimination and equality issues, including:
- Disability
- Age
- Religion or belief
- Sex discrimination
- Assisting with termination negotiations, settlement agreements, and workplace disputes
- Preparing and managing Employment Tribunal cases, including advocacy (where appropriate)
- Collaborating with the firm’s HR Consultancy team to deliver seamless client support
- Building strong client relationships through regular engagement and ongoing support
- Contributing to business development, networking, and sector-focused marketing
What We’re Looking For
Essential Requirements
✔ Newly qualified solicitor with Employment Law experience ✔ A genuine passion for employment law, with a commitment to continuous learning ✔ Strong communication and relationship-building skills ✔ Excellent organisation and time-management, balancing multiple priorities ✔ High attention to detail with a proactive problem-solving mindset ✔ Confidence in collaborating with colleagues and clients ✔ Strong IT literacy and adaptability in a modern hybrid working environment ✔ A client-focused mindset, ensuring exceptional service delivery

Desirable Experience
✔ Previous experience in a similar Employment Law role ✔ Exposure to Employment Tribunal proceedings and advocacy ✔ Familiarity with advising education sector clients (e.g., schools or colleges) ✔ Knowledge of charity or social enterprise employment challenges
