Description
We are seeking a motivated and commercially aware banking/finance Solicitor / Associate (2+ years’ PQE) to join our Funding Team in Birmingham on a 6 Month FTC Basis. The team specialises in securing and structuring funding solutions for clients (both lender and borrower) across our key sectors, including social housing, health & social care, charities and social enterprises.
About the Role and Team
The successful candidate will play a key role in advising on a broad range of funding arrangements, including acquisition finance, development finance, refinancing, and complex structured funding transactions. Work will include advising social impact funders and borrowers alike on funding instruments and associated security, including listed bond issues, private placements and ISDA agreements.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a purpose-driven firm that combines legal expertise with a strong social impact focus and to work within a team that handles transactions totalling over £1billion for the UK social housing sector alone each Financial Year.

The firm offers flexible working on a hybrid model with two days in our Birmingham office and offers significant exposure to boards and executive teams within our fantastic clients (with travel needed (where appropriate) to support the same).
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the day to day running of transactions. Leading and managing matters, coordinating parties and driving transactions efficiently.
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating banking and capital markets documentation for funder and borrower clients (as applicable).
- Providing support to other fee earners within the Governance, Corporate and Funding Group (in which the Funding Team sits) to share knowledge and expertise.
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships (on both the funder and borrower side).
- Building a presence (and supporting the growth of the Funding Team’s presence) within all relevant sectors.
- Meeting/exceeding monthly billing targets.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Qualified solicitor/Associate with 2+ years’ PQE in banking/finance is desirable
- Strong lender-side experience in real estate finance.
- Exposure to social housing finance transactions desirable.
- Experience in capital market transactions desirable.
- Proven ability to manage complex matters and stakeholder relationships.
