Solicitor - Charities
The opportunity We are recruiting for a Solicitor to join Stone King’s nationally renowned Charity & Social Enterprise team, offering a unique opportunity to build a career advising purpose‑driven organisations that make a real difference. Based in our London office, this role provides hands‑on exposure to a broad range of charity and social enterprise work, supported closely by experienced colleagues within a highly collaborative team. This opportunity would particularly suit a solicitor who is looking for a change of direction or to specialise in something more values‑led – whether you are currently working in‑house for a charity, or coming from a corporate, commercial or finance background and keen to apply your skills in a more purpose‑driven context. We’re looking for someone who is curious, motivated and eager to develop their expertise in this specialist area of law. You’ll play an important role in supporting charities and social enterprises on complex, varied and often high‑profile matters, while being given the guidance and structure needed at this stage of your career. This is very much a development role, with close supervision, mentoring and progression at its core.

What You’ll Be Doing Managing your own caseload (with appropriate supervision), delivering high‑quality legal advice to charity and social enterprise clients. Advising on a wide range of matters including charity governance, restructures, funding, trading structures and commercial arrangements. Supporting major projects, mergers and transfers of assets and operations. Assisting with Charity Commission matters, including inquiries, investigations and compliance work. Drafting charity constitutions, schemes, commercial agreements and governance documentation. Working collaboratively within the Charity & Social Enterprise team and across the wider firm. Taking part in marketing and business development activity, including events and sector engagement. Actively developing your technical knowledge and professional skills with support from senior colleagues.
What We’re Looking For ✔ A qualified Solicitor at an early stage of their career ✔ Background in an in‑house charity role or corporate, commercial or finance‑focused legal work ✔ A genuine interest in the charity and social enterprise sector and a desire to specialise in this area ✔ Strong drafting, organisation and file management skills ✔ Excellent communication skills with clients and colleagues ✔ A collaborative, proactive approach and willingness to learn ✔ Ability to work effectively within a supportive team environment ✔ Strong IT skills
