Description

We are delighted to announce an exciting opportunity for a Solicitor or CILEX Lawyer (0–4 years PQE) to join our market-leading Property Recoveries Team on a permanent basis.

This is a claimant-focused role offering the opportunity to handle a diverse and technically challenging caseload of high-value insurance recovery claims, acting for leading insurers and major stakeholders across the insurance market. You will work on property damage recoveries arising from a wide range of perils, including fire, flood, escape of water, oil spills, impact damage, construction defects, and other complex loss events.

The role will provide exposure to complex liability, causation, and quantum issues, with regular involvement in matters requiring expert evidence, forensic investigations, and strategic recovery litigation. You will develop strong technical expertise while working alongside recognized specialists in the field.

What you will do?

As part of our growing Property Recoveries Team, you will work on a broad range of complex and high-value insurance recovery claims, acting on behalf of major insurer clients to pursue recoveries arising from property damage losses.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing your own caseload of multi-track recovery claims, from initial investigation through to settlement, mediation, or trial.
  • Investigating liability in relation to a wide range of property damage incidents, including high value escapes of water, fire, flood, oil spills, impact damage, construction-related losses, and other complex recovery matters.
  • Conducting detailed liability, causation, and quantum investigations, including analysis of technical and expert evidence.
  • Obtaining witness statements, securing key documentary evidence, and liaising with insureds, brokers, loss adjusters, experts, and third parties.
  • Drafting pre-action correspondence, Letters of Claim, pleadings, and other court documentation.
  • Progressing claims through the litigation process, including disclosure, witness evidence, expert instruction, settlement negotiations, and Trial preparation.
  • Negotiating settlements and maximizing recoveries on behalf of insurer clients.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues, Counsel, forensic experts, and industry-leading clients on technically challenging matters.
  • Contributing to client relationship management, business development, and marketing initiatives to support the continued growth of the practice.
  • Maintaining compliance with all client service standards, regulatory requirements, and the firm's information security and data protection protocols.
  • Demonstrating strong financial and commercial management of your files, including billing, WIP management, recoverability, and credit control.
  • Achieving key performance measures, including a minimum annual chargeable hours target of 1,440 hours.

Who you are

  • Be a Solicitor or CILEX Lawyer, or have substantial pre-qualification experience.
  • Be interested in and willing to learn insurance property damage law, including the basic principles of contract law and tort.
  • Good communication skills to liaise with clients, intermediaries, and colleagues.
  • Ability to critically look at factual evidence, identify key legal arguments, and apply the same.
  • Commitment and enthusiasm with a professional attitude.
  • Commercial awareness, resilience, and confidence.
  • Demonstrates alignment with the Firm’s Cultural Principles (Clear, Creative, Determined, and Supportive).
