The HSF Kramer Finance practice is a well-established Banking & Finance practice, renowned for executing high-profile and complex transactions with precision and speed. Our London Finance Division advises lenders, borrowers, investment banks, and market participants on:
- High-value financings

- Innovative transaction structures, including ‘first to market’ solutions
The Finance practice encompasses specialist areas such as:
- Real estate finance

About the HSF Kramer Digital Finance Team
The Digital Finance legal team operates within the Digital Legal Delivery group, providing cost-effective, high-value managed legal services for finance transactions. We collaborate closely with HSF Kramer’s global Finance divisions, including London and other regional teams, to deliver market-leading finance mandates.

The Role
This client-facing position provides unique exposure to exciting, high-stakes finance transactions across sectors including real estate, securitisation, energy, and leveraged finance. Practical involvement in deal execution complements outsourcing and business relationship management, offering a balanced blend of document drafting, commercial acumen, and client engagement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Partnering with the senior Digital Finance team in a growing Belfast-based finance practice.
- Cross-office collaboration with the London Finance Division and global finance specialists.
Core Accountabilities
♥ Deal Execution:
- Supporting complex financings across all standard conditionalities, including:
- Conducting company searches
- Drafting corporate authorisations and ancillary documents
- Drafting security documents and other transaction collateral
- Managing conditions precedent
- Executing documents at closing
♥ Outsourcing & Client Relationships:
- Acting as a quasi-in-house legal representative for clients, facilitating outsourcing projects (e.g., negotiating standard finance documents such as NDAs or release letters).
- Prerogative to interact directly with senior-in-house counsel as an extension of our clients’ legal team.
♥ Collaboration & Leadership:
- Supervising Legal Analysts or Trainees on specific transactions (e.g., complex deal issues), as directed by Senior Solicitors or Finance practice management.
- Bringing closure to lead màndates under supervision.
♥ Knowledge & Compliance:
- Maintaining currency with key finance areas (e.g., credit agreements, loan documentation).
- Adhering to business protocols (e.g., accurate time reporting).
- Ensuring compliance and transparency in managed legal service frameworks.

Location and Travel
✅ Belfast-based, with standard firm-wide attendance expectations. ✅ No habitual travel, though routine visits to our London Finance Division may arise. Accepted on a gaze basis under guidance.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Essential
- Qualified solicitor in England & Wales or Northern Ireland. (Republic of Ireland or other common law jurisdictions welcome—requalification to E&W discretionary.)
- 1–3 years post-qualification experience (PQE), with:
- At least six months priority exposure to Banking & Finance Law (drafting/secured lending focus advantageous).
- UK residency with a minimum 100-mile separation from prior proximity to HSF Kramer UK offices (e.g., London).
Desirable
- Prior private practice law firm experience (traineeship/qualified) or financing field mini-clerkships.
- Operational hands-on experience, such as:
- Negotiating or reviewing lending documents
- Engaging with creditors or capital markets actors in deal processes.
- Project experience with audit or compliance disciplines (e.g., ensuring ISP handle loan commitment traditions).
