In Legal Technology, we efficiently and reliably deploy the firm’s established tech solutions across:
- Document automation
- Custom development
- eDiscovery and data analytics
- Client reporting
We work collaboratively across the firm on disputes, transactions, and projects.
Advisory
In Advisory, we provide deep expertise in legal operations and emerging technologies. Whether working alongside our teams or directly with clients, we advise on new ways of working while scanning the industry horizon.
The Role
This position will integrate you into our legal team, where you’ll collaborate closely with:
- Managers
- Senior Solicitors
- Solicitors
- Trainees
- Legal Analysts
Note: Occasional travel to Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer offices or client sites may be required.
Key Responsibilities
Fee-Earning & Core Legal Work
- Conduct document review and analysis, due diligence, or other practice-specific chargeable work, meeting target average daily chargeable hours.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Undertake Quality Control, providing constructive feedback to ensure output aligns with HSF Kramer quality standards.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of key areas of law relevant to the practice.

Client & Team Collaboration
- Work with other HSF Kramer practice groups (globally) to deliver high-quality support for clients and internal legal teams (pr exigence).
- Supervise Trainees or Legal Analysts on tasks requiring specific oversight, such as complex legal matters (directed by Senior Solicitors, Managers, or Senior Managers of the Digital Disputes team).
Financial & Administrative Responsibilities
- Ensure discipline in financial matters (e.g., daily time recording).
- Provide additional client-matter support and related tasks as needed.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Essential
- Qualified solicitor or barrister in England & Wales or Northern Ireland; Republic of Ireland or other common law jurisdictions may be considered.
- Minimum 2+ years’ post-qualification experience (PQE), with 12 months’ proven experience in Disputes/litigation (3+ PQE desirable).
- Innovative mindset with curiosity about AI and emerging technologies.
Desirable
- Experience in a commercial legal environment, ideally at a private practice law firm.
- Familiarity with Disputes practice groupwork, particularly:
- Large-scale document review
- Ability to project manage processes from instruction to completion.
