Family Law Solicitor (c.3 years' PQE)
Heswall / Liverpool
The Firm
Hilton Spence is a family law firm that is boutique, high-quality, genuinely client-first, and a place that doesn't hold good lawyers back.
We act for clients across the North West - and there is now more of that work than the current team should sensibly carry.
The Role
We're looking for an ambitious family solicitor, around 3 years' PQE, to join the firm at an early and formative stage. You won't inherit someone's idea of how the job should be done - you'll help shape the way we work, grow as the firm grows, and look back in a few years knowing you were part of it from the start.
This is a role for someone who wants to build their career, a team and the firm - not just bill. As well as running your own matters, you'll have a hand in raising the firm's profile, and you'll be supported to do it your way.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
