Job Description
What You’ll Do as a Solution Architect
In your role, you’ll collaborate with different people across a range of skillsets. Here’s a flavour of your day-to-day:
- Design End-to-End Solutions: Lead the design of technical solutions that meet business, functional, and non-functional requirements, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and domain strategy.
- Architectural Governance: Oversee compliance with design standards, guardrails, and principles throughout delivery; present and defend designs at architectural forums.
- Documentation & Knowledge Management: Create and maintain solution blueprints, key design decisions, reusable patterns, and technology choices, ensuring critical knowledge is retained and shared.
- Technical Leadership Across Lifecycle: Provide direction and assurance from initial budgeting and vendor proposals through to detailed design and delivery oversight, ensuring cost-effective and accurate implementation.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration: Work closely with product owners, domain architects, engineering teams, and external partners to shape solution options, evaluate trade-offs, and ensure clarity and alignment.
- Risk & Roadmap Contribution: Identify technical risks, support mitigation planning, contribute to technology roadmaps, and ensure operational readiness and supportability post-delivery.

What You’ll Bring
Here at Primark, we want everyone to feel valued – so please bring your authentic self to work, of course with some other key experience and abilities for this role in particular:
- Experience with UK or global retailers, including PoS deployment and retail payment solutions.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft technologies: Azure, Intune, Defender, and Azure Integration Services.
- Solid infrastructure background, including networking, firewalls, and client operating systems.
- Previous experience working in high-transaction processing environments.
- Ability to explain technical concepts in clear, business-friendly language.
- Skilled at translating business requirements into effective technical solutions.
