The Role: Solution Architect
About the Role
You’ll lead the shaping and definition of technology solutions that support Finance functions within the Corporate Functions Technology team. This role bridges the gap between business strategy and technical implementation, translating complex requirements into scalable, secure, and strategically aligned designs.
Key Responsibilities

- Design end-to-end technology solutions covering:
- Functional, non-functional requirements
- Integration, data models, security, and resilience
- Scalability, sustainability, and compliance alignment
- Ensure all solutions align with our enterprise architecture principles, target state architecture, and technology strategy while adhering to governance frameworks.
- Drive integrated Finance and Corporate Function processes, reducing manual intervention through automation and platform-led solutions.
- Embed modern design approaches—including API-led, event-driven, and automation-first architectures—to enhance operational agility.
- Collaborate across architecture, delivery, and engineering teams to provide design leadership, maintain consistency, and ensure integrity throughout the lifecycle.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate design risks, assumptions, and dependencies, recommending evidence-based strategies with clear trade-offs.
- Participate in governance fora, providing design assurance, and ensuring solutions meet quality and compliance standards.
- Contribute to evolving design best practices, promoting reuse, consistency, and continuous improvement.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
