Solution Architect
Generalist Solution Architect – IAG Transform
About Us
We are part of International Airlines Group (IAG), one of the world’s leading airline groups and owner of some of the biggest brands in aviation, including Aer Lingus, British Airways, Iberia, Level, Vueling, as well as IAG Loyalty and IAG Cargo.
IAG Transform provides creative and innovative solutions to drive sustainable transformation across the Group by delivering procurement and airline services, as well as group-wide systems. Our centralised model enables efficiencies, automation, and cost savings across all operating companies.
The Purpose of the Role
The Generalist Solution Architect designs end-to-end, integrated technology solutions that address complex business problems across IAG.
This is a technology-agnostic, delivery-focused role, operating across multiple domains, platforms, products, and programmes—rather than specialising in a single area. You will:
- Translate business requirements into coherent, secure, scalable, and supportable solutions
- Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture principles while remaining delivery-aware
- Work across a mobile portfolio of programmes and projects to drive change
- Operate within the OpCo architecture function, shaping, governing, and delivering location-specific solutions while remaining aligned with Group Enterprise Architecture strategy
Key Responsibilities
End-to-End Solution Design
- Design technically robust, business-utility solutions across:
- Applications & integrations
- Data & analytics
- Infrastructure & cloud
- Security & operational considerations
- Break down complex business problems into clear, cost-effective solution options, making functional and non-functional requirements explicit
- Create fit-for-purpose designs that prioritise proportionality and scalability without unnecessary complexity
Multi-Domain, Generalist Delivery
- Act as a solution architect across multiple business domains & tech stacks, avoiding siloed or point-solution approaches
- Move flexibly between projects and programmes in different delivery stages
- Ensure consistent solution integration across all platforms (existing & new)

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
