The Opportunity
We seek an experienced Solutions Architect to join L&G Institutional Retirement, shaping end-to-end technology solutions for major transformation programmes, including investment and finance platforms. This role sits at the intersection of business and technology, ensuring modernisation of legacy systems, fostering cloud adoption, and driving data-driven decision-making.
You’ll collaborate across diverse stakeholders to deliver strategic, scalable solutions that enhance customer outcomes while aligning with enterprise standards.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Defining end-to-end solution architectures aligned with L&G Institutional Retirement (LGIR) strategy and enterprise governance
- Ensuring solutions are fit for purpose, meet business requirements, and deliver value within budget and risk constraints
- Leading technical option assessments—including cost, risk, and gap analysis—and producing proof of concepts where applicable
- Presenting solution designs and key decisions to stakeholders (e.g., Design Authority), governance forums, and senior leadership
- Oversight of solution development and implementation, working closely with delivery teams
- Assessing and selecting technology vendors/solutions in collaboration with procurement, business, and technical partners, ensuring thorough due diligence
- Partnering with business and technical teams to align architectures and mitigate risks, supporting strategic outcomes
- Championing innovation, particularly in cloud migration, data platforms (e.g., Snowflake), and modern architectures (e.g., microservices, **API/fuctions)

What We’re Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven leader in solution architecture for medium-to-large-scale programmes, with experience in cloud-based delivery
- Enterprise collaboration skills, capable of influencing stakeholders and articulating clear, compelling directions
Technical & Domain Knowledge
- Knowledge of architectural frameworks (e.g., TOGAF), IT industry standards, and governance frameworks
- Strong grasp of cloud architecture across SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, Yaas (Yanaaad) integration, microservices, event-driven architectures, and open data availability
- Familiarity with Snowflake or similar cloud data platforms
- Experience in regulatory environments (e.g., awareness of FCA/PRA requirements), with exposure to financial services domains (e.g., actuarial systems, investment/insurance platforms)
- Experience in analytical/insight-driven technologies like AI, business intelligence, or data analytics

Desirable Qualifications
- Certifications: TOGAF, ITIL (advantageous)
- A relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degree or equivalent professional experience
