At MPB, we're transforming the way people buy, sell and trade used photography and videography equipment. As the world's largest platform for used camera gear, we're making kit more accessible and sustainable for creators around the world.
We're looking for a Solution Architect to join our Technology team in Brighton.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of MPB's technology platform as we accelerate our adoption of AI across the business. Working closely with our Principal Architect, Product teams and Engineering squads, you'll help define how emerging technologies, AI capabilities and modern architecture patterns can unlock new opportunities for our customers and colleagues.
This isn't a traditional architecture role.
We're looking for someone who loves turning ideas into reality. Someone who enjoys getting hands-on, building prototypes, experimenting with new technologies and proving what's possible. You'll combine strategic thinking with practical delivery, helping guide architectural decisions while actively contributing to the evolution of our platform.

What You'll Be Doing
As a Solution Architect, you'll work across Product, Engineering and Architecture to design scalable, secure and high-performing technology solutions that support MPB's growth.
You'll help shape architectural direction while staying close to delivery, ensuring ideas are tested, validated and translated into meaningful business outcomes.
You'll also:
Partner with Product and Engineering teams to design scalable and maintainable technical solutions Support the development and implementation of architecture standards, principles and best practices Drive exploration of emerging technologies, with a particular focus on AI, Generative AI and intelligent automation Research, prototype and validate new technologies through hands-on proof of concepts Identify opportunities to use AI to improve customer experiences, operational efficiency and colleague productivity Contribute code and technical solutions to demonstrate feasibility and reduce delivery risk Champion performance, scalability, reliability and security across the technology estate Support engineers with technical guidance, coaching and architectural best practices Communicate technical concepts and architectural direction clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences Act as a trusted advisor across the business, helping stakeholders understand opportunities, trade-offs and technical possibilities

What We're Looking For
You're a highly capable technologist who enjoys solving complex problems and turning innovative ideas into practical solutions.
You combine strong architectural thinking with a builder's mindset and are comfortable moving between strategy, design and hands-on delivery. You're naturally curious, excited by emerging technologies and motivated by finding better ways of doing things.
You'll bring:
Significant experience in software engineering and solution architecture Strong understanding of distributed systems, cloud-native architectures and modern software design principles Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate complex technical challenges Practical experience working with AI technologies, Large Language Models and AI-powered services Experience designing and integrating modern technology solutions within complex environments Strong coding skills, ideally using Python, Node.js or similar technologies Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to a wide range of audiences A pragmatic approach that balances technical excellence with speed, value and delivery

Experience building AI-powered applications, workflows or internal tools Familiarity with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), AI agents and orchestration frameworks Experience evaluating and implementing emerging technologies within production environments Experience working in eCommerce, marketplace or high-growth digital businesses A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline
