About Us
We are part of International Airlines Group (IAG), one of the world’s leading airline groups and owner of some of the biggest brands in the sky. IAG Transform provides creative and innovative solutions to drive sustainable transformation by delivering procurement and airline services, as well as group-wide systems across IAG. Each operating company benefits from the Transform centralised model, driving efficiencies, automation, and economies of scale.
Purpose of the Role
The Generalist Solution Architect is responsible for designing end to end, integrated technology solutions that address complex business problems across the Group. The role operates as a technology agnostic, delivery focused architecture role, working across multiple domains, platforms, products and programmes, rather than specialising in a single business or technology area. The Solution Architect translates business requirements into coherent, secure, scalable and supportable solution designs, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture principles while remaining pragmatic and delivery aware.
The role is intentionally mobile, moving between initiatives as required, and supporting change across a broad portfolio of programmes and projects. This role operates as part of the OpCo architecture function, accountable for local architecture outcomes and decision-making. While aligned to Group Enterprise Architecture strategy, policies and principles, the role retains autonomy to shape and govern OpCo architectural solutions that best meet local business, delivery and regulatory needs.
Your Responsibilities
End-to-End Solution Design
- Design end-to-end solutions spanning applications, integrations, data, infrastructure, cloud, security, and operational considerations.
- Structure complex business problems into clear solution options, making functional and non-functional requirements explicit and traceable.
- Produce solution designs that are fit for purpose, proportionate, and aligned to enterprise standards, without unnecessary complexity.
Multi-Domain & Generalist Delivery
- Operate across multiple business domains and technology areas, applying solution architecture skills rather than domain specialism.
- Move flexibly between initiatives, supporting a portfolio of projects and programmes at different stages of delivery.
- Integrate solutions across new and existing platforms, avoiding siloed or point-solution thinking.
Requirements, Design & Assurance
- Work with business and delivery teams to ensure requirements are complete, consistent, and technically viable.
- Ensure solution designs meet agreed functional, non-functional, security, resilience, and operability requirements.
- Actively manage and govern design deviations during delivery, balancing architectural integrity with practical delivery constraints.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
