RED is looking for an experienced Solution Architect to support the design and delivery of a large-scale, real-time data platform. The role will focus on defining scalable, resilient and secure architecture across event-driven systems, API-led integrations, distributed data stores and cloud-native platforms.
The consultant will work closely with engineering, product, data and platform teams to translate business and product objectives into clear technical solution designs.
This is a 6-month contract with extension possibilities and 3 days onsite presence in West London, hybrid working.
Key Responsibilities

- Design scalable, resilient and secure distributed systems.
- Define system architecture, data flows, API integrations and event-driven patterns.
- Work with engineering teams to ensure designs are feasible and implemented correctly.
- Support architecture reviews, technical decision-making and design governance.
- Identify technical risks, trade-offs and dependencies early.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, data science and platform teams.
- Create clear architecture documentation including HLDs, LLDs and system flow diagrams.
- Ensure solutions support performance, reliability, operability and future scalability.
- Support data infrastructure that enables analytics and AI/ML-driven use cases.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
