Solution Architect – Corporate Functions Technology
About the Role
The Solution Architect designs and shapes technology solutions that support the Finance functions within the Corporate Functions Technology team. This role sits at the intersection of business and technology, transforming complex requirements into scalable and strategically aligned systems.
Core Focus
- Finance & Data Platform Expertise: Driving alignment with enterprise architecture, security standards, and long-term technology strategy.
- System Integration: Improving operational efficiency through automation, reducing manual intervention, and enhancing data consistency.
- Collaborative Leadership: Engaging with business stakeholders, architects, delivery teams, and technology partners to ensure solutions deliver measurable value.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Corporate Function stakeholders to interpret strategic goals and intricate business needs, translating them into structured, high-quality solution designs.
- Oversee the development of end-to-end solutions, covering functional, non-functional, security, resilience, integration, and data requirements, ensuring scalability, sustainability, and efficiency.
- Align all solution designs with enterprise architecture, governance, and assurance standards while upholding M&G’s target state architecture and technology strategy.

- Architect solutions that unify Finance processes, ensure data integrity, and minimise operational complexity through advanced platforms such as Oracle Fusion, AHCS, and EPM.
- Implement modern architectural approaches, including API-led, event-driven, and automation-first designs, to enhance efficiency.
- Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and delivery teams to maintain design integrity throughout the project lifecycle.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate design risks, assumptions, and dependencies, ensuring timely resolution of challenges.
- Evaluate solution options and provide well-researched recommendations balancing cost, risk, complexity, and strategy alignment.
- Offer design assurance and governance expertise, championing solutions that meet business expectations and compliance criteria.
- Drive continuous improvement in solution design standards, patterns, and best practices, fostering aunity for reuse and consistency.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Proven expertise designing large-scale, corporate technology solutions with deep immersion in Finance and Data architectures.
- Specialist proficiency in Oracle Fusion, AHCS, and EPM platforms, including integration into broader enterprise systems.
- Strong foundation in Azure data technologies (Data Factory / ADF, Databricks, Synapse), with an understanding of modern data architectures.
- Knowledge of data modelling, governance, and semantic consistency in financial reporting contexts.
- Experience that meets regulatory and compliance standards, including security, resilience, and data quality.
- Ability to clear and articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and senior non-technical stakeholders.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills with cross-functional leadership experience.
- Familiarity with governance frameworks, including architectural and design assurance processes.
- Bonus: Awareness of integration patterns (API-led design), automation, and AI-enabled solutions.
