Acting as the design authority, you'll own the overall technical direction, governance and assurance of solutions, ensuring they are secure, scalable and aligned to customer and business outcomes.
Working across multiple technical domains, you'll collaborate with customers, senior stakeholders, technical designers and delivery teams to shape innovative solutions, manage technical risk and drive successful delivery. This is a highly influential role where you'll combine deep technical expertise with strong stakeholder engagement to help BT deliver transformational outcomes for its customers.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead the end-to-end solution architecture for complex bids and delivery programmes, from discovery through to transition into build and run.
- Define and govern architecture principles, patterns, security controls, resilience requirements and integration approaches across multiple domains.
- Act as the technical authority, providing governance, assurance and oversight of solution designs and architecture artefacts.
- Engage with customers and stakeholders up to executive level, influencing decisions and building confidence in BT's technical strategy.
- Identify, assess and manage technical risks, dependencies and design challenges across complex programmes.
- Lead architecture governance, peer reviews and assurance forums to ensure solutions meet security, regulatory and operational standards.
- Mentor architects and technical specialists, contributing to architecture standards, reusable patterns and continuous improvement initiatives.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
