The Solution Engineer
The Solution Engineer is a key member of the sales organization, acting as the technical and domain expert who bridges customer business challenges with Sphera’s software solutions. While not directly responsible for selling, this role plays a critical part in driving revenue growth by understanding customer objectives, demonstrating value, and shaping compelling business cases that support investment decisions.
Working closely with prospective customers throughout the sales cycle, the Solution Engineer leads value-based discussions, delivers tailored product demonstrations, and translates complex operational risk and process safety challenges into clear, impactful solutions. The role collaborates closely with account executives, product management, implementation teams, and marketing to ensure a seamless customer journey from initial engagement through to successful deployment.

This position is ideal for a consultative, commercially aware professional with strong communication skills, technical credibility, and domain expertise in operational risk management. It offers the opportunity to influence product direction, support strategic sales initiatives, and represent the organization as a trusted advisor both internally and externally.
Job Brief
- The Solution Engineer understands how software and technology is used to help solve complex business challenges.
- The solution engineer is not directly selling software to clients, but is a part of the sales organization, supporting software sales in various activities throughout the sales cycle.
- The Solution Engineer is an integral role in helping Sphera meet revenue targets whilst assisting clients meet their business objectives.
- Experience and high comfort level in public speaking and in conducting presentations to small- and medium-sized audiences.
- Analytical, planning, and presentation development skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent command of English grammar, spelling, and composition.
- Strong attention to detail.
- High level of initiative and strong business judgment.
- Ability to work under pressure of multiple deadlines.
- Sales cycle awareness, sales acumen, and marketing skills.
Qualifications And Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in implementing/using data management software products.
- ORM - BS/BA in engineering, computer science, supply chain/commerce, occupational safety, or relevant field of study within Operational Risk Management.
- ORM - Preferred experience with enterprise software in related domain of Operational Risk, Process Safety.
- ORM - Subject matter expertise within operational risk topics including but not limited to: Process safety, Hazops, LOPA, and Permit to Work/Control of Work.
- Work directly with product management delivering feedback to drive innovation.
- Liaising with implementation teams to help prepare the project for success.
- Helping account executives and sales managers develop strategies for sales opportunities with proven best practice methodologies.
- Helping coordinate and complete tender documentation such as RFI, RFP, RFQ, etc., from clients.
- Support marketing activities by presenting as an expert on webinars, submitting papers to publications, and speaking at industry conferences.
- Internal team support strategies for internal training, technology maintenance, subject matter thought leadership.
- Position requires travel 10-20% onsite to a client; international trips are required on occasion.
