Solutions Architect – Digital
Location: Hybrid – Borehamwood

As a Solutions Architect, you’ll shape our digital delivery model, drive architectural excellence, and enable migration and modernization on Azure. You’ll work in a collaborative environment where agile delivery and technical leadership are key to delivering value at pace.
The Day To Day
- Define and evolve our tech stack to meet business needs and industry best practice.
- Lead design and delivery of scalable, secure solutions on Azure, collaborating with vendors and IT teams.
- Partner with Enterprise Architect and business leaders to align technical direction with strategy.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement using emerging technologies.
- Guide engineering teams in modernising systems and adopting cloud-native patterns.
- Champion a Build/Run mindset, supporting a full solution lifecycle.
- Integrate technical planning into product roadmaps and ensure accurate estimation.
- Promote agile and lean principles, balancing agility with governance to enable rapid, predictable delivery.
- Develop technical documentation and resolve risks proactively.
- Identify and resolve technical risks proactively, maintaining a positive, solution-oriented attitude.
- Drive the adoption of cloud applications and establish best practices for their use across the organization.
- Evaluate third-party services and use metrics to inform decisions.
- Use metrics and data to inform architectural decisions and drive continuous improvement.

Cloud: Microsoft Azure, Azure DevOps

Automation & DevOps: CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, AI powered delivery
Integration: Azure Logic Apps, Service Bus, API Management
Monitoring: Application Insights, Log Analytics
Practices: Agile (Scrum/Kanban), TDD, ToGAF, Clean Architecture principles
Note: Our European operation has a large exposure in Azure, aligning to the wider Global operation. We also have exposure to AWS and GCP cloud environments.
About You
- Extensive experience in software architecture or solution design, with a strong track record in cloud environments.
- Proven experience leading application modernization, migration, and refactoring initiatives from on-premises to cloud.
- Deep understanding of software architecture principles, design patterns, and best practices.
- Proficiency in designing and implementing scalable, secure, and resilient cloud solutions.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and infrastructure automation.
- Strong knowledge of agile methodologies and digital delivery frameworks.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop engineering and architecture talent.
- Experience in insurance or financial services environments is advantageous.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., TOGAF, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect) are a plus.
- Commitment to ownership, accountability, and delivering business outcomes.
- Passion for learning new technologies and continuously enhancing existing skills.
- Self-starter who thrives in collaborative team settings and adapts quickly in a fast-changing business environment.
