Solution Architect - Architectural Review - AWS / Serverless

1-Month Contract | Fully Remote | Outside IR35

I’m working with a fintech organisation looking for an experienced Solution Architect to undertake a technical architecture and design review of a recently developed, AWS-based financial platform. This is a short, focused engagement initially for 1 month, with potential to extend depending on the findings and subsequent work required.

The Role

You’ll independently review the architecture and engineering work delivered to date, assessing whether the platform is appropriately designed for scalability, resilience, security, and long-term maintainability.

The environment is heavily AWS and serverless, so we’re looking for someone who combines strong architecture credentials with enough technical depth to properly challenge engineering decisions.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Conducting an end-to-end architectural and technical design review
  • Reviewing the existing AWS infrastructure and serverless architecture
  • Assessing architectural decisions around AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, APIs, and wider cloud services
  • Evaluating scalability, resilience, performance, security, and maintainability
  • Identifying architectural risks, technical debt, and potential design gaps
  • Validating whether current engineering decisions align with recognised architecture best practices
  • Providing clear, pragmatic recommendations and a roadmap for improvement
  • Working closely with technical stakeholders to communicate findings and challenge decisions constructively

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • TOGAF certification, BCS Architecture certification, or equivalent Enterprise Architecture credentials
  • Previous fintech, financial services, or high-volume transactional platform experience would be highly beneficial but not essential
