Solutions Architect – Financial Institutions Platform Modernisation

Are you a hands-on technical leader with a passion for transforming complex legacy systems into modern, resilient platforms?

Synechron is seeking a Solutions Architect to drive a diverse portfolio of initiatives across a leading financial institution’s platform estate.

About the Role

As Solutions Architect, you will:

  • Lead critical projects including risk remediation, resiliency improvements, and system modernisation.
  • Partner closely with Product, Operations, and Engineering teams to drive pragmatic architecture decisions that balance quality and operational efficiency.
  • Create scalable, secure, and compliant solutions that align business needs with technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver scalable, resilient solutions across legacy and modern platforms.
  • Lead architecture for risk, regulatory, and resilience initiatives.
  • Simplify intricate system landscapes while maintaining operational stability.
  • Define target architectures and transition roadmaps with business-aware trade-offs.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership through design reviews, proof-of-concepts (PoCs), and implementation support.
  • Drive data-intensive system design, including ETL and processing pipelines.
  • Ensure solutions adhere to enterprise architecture, security, and governance standards.
  • Work collaboratively across teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
  • Represent the domain in architecture forums and influence strategic decisions.
  • Mentor engineers to improve architectural and engineering practices.

Required Technologies & Skills

Cloud & Infrastructure

  • AWS (EC2, Lambda, Glue, EKS, S3, SQS, SNS)
  • DevOps (CI/CD: GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Terraform, Docker/Kubernetes)
  • Orchestration & Monitoring (Airflow, Step Functions, Grafana – desirable)

Technical Proficiency

  • Languages & Frameworks: Python, Java/C# (.NET), Angular
  • Data Platforms: SQL Server, PostgreSQL, ETL, Data Lake
  • Architectures: Event-driven systems, microservices, API-first

AI/ML & Automation

  • Experience with intelligent automation is a plus.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Solutions Architect or Senior Technical Lead in complex enterprise environments.
  • Deep expertise in AWS, distributed systems, and microservices.
  • Strong SQL, Python, Java, C#/.NET, and Angular development skills.
  • Ability to design highly resilient, scalable, and secure systems.
  • Understanding of risk management and regulatory controls.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Pragmatic, problem-solving mindset with a curiosity for modern tech and AI.

  • Multi-year long-term rolling contract
  • Hybrid working (3 days in office)
