Position Overview

AWS is hiring a Solutions Architect, based in Manchester or London, focused on Retail and Consumer Goods customers across the United Kingdom and Ireland (UK&I). This role will cover a diverse set of sub-segments, including Fashion & Apparel, General Merchandise, Grocery, and Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), ranging from established enterprises to fast-moving digital natives.

Role Responsibilities

As a Solutions Architect, you will work closely with AWS customers to help them maximize the benefits of the cloud. You'll engage with organizations at all stages of cloud adoption, particularly in the Retail and Consumer Goods industry. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with a Customer Account Team to engage with Retail and CPG customers and recommend best-practice architectures aligned with their business goals.
  • Building technical relationships with customers, acting as a trusted advisor.
  • Identifying and implementing new technical opportunities that benefit your customers' business objectives.
  • Designing customer solutions with a focus on trade-offs such as extensibility, flexibility, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Sharing customer insights to inform the AWS feature roadmap.
  • Creating and sharing best practices, technical content, and reference architectures.
  • Promoting and educating customers about AWS technology through various channels.
  • Contributing to the growth of the Solutions Architecture organization and mentoring team members.

Daily Activities

Your day-to-day activities will be varied and dynamic. You might start the week with your Customer Account Team, then dive into customer architecture sessions, run workshops, prototype Agentic Commerce ideas, and mentor teammates. The work style is flexible, combining on-site collaboration with online work.

Team Overview

You'll be part of a multi-disciplinary Customer Account Team that supports each customer. The team includes:

  • Account Managers: Manage the overall business relationship and commercial strategy.
  • Customer Solutions Managers: Orchestrate delivery and manage complex cloud programs.
  • Technical Account Managers: Provide operational guidance and support.
  • Specialists: Offer deep expertise in areas such as AI/ML, data & analytics, security, networking, and more.

As a Solutions Architect, you'll connect the technical dots across the team and have their expertise and support.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience in specific technology domains (e.g., software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics).
  • Experience in design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures.
  • Experience in IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in software development or Internet-related industries.
  • Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud.
  • Experience working with AWS technologies from a dev/ops perspective.
