Solutions Architect

Lua – Sales & Solutions Engineer (Technical AI Co-Pilot)

About Lua

Lua is the Agent OS. We build digital employees—agents that perform end-to-end real work:

  • Read a company’s systems
  • Make autonomous decisions
  • Execute actions
  • Improve incrementally from each run

Unlike chatbots that answer questions, our agents do the work—on clients’ own data and workflows, with full ownership and control. Teams code logic in Lua (agents, skills, tools, jobs, webhooks, guardrails) while we handle the heavy lifting:

  • Infrastructure
  • Multi-provider orchestration
  • Data control
  • Channels (WhatsApp, Slack, Email, Instagram, voice-capable widget, API)
  • Monitoring

Our clients are market operators—from heritage-site operators to global retail and banks—across Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia. Together, they employ 64,000+ people and generate $5bn+ in revenue annually, seeking to transition to AI-native workflows without legacy disruption.

Backed by Y Combinator and $5.8M in funding, Lua is approximately to build a playbook, not follow an existing one.

Responsibilities

Discover & Scope

  • Lead technical discovery with operators to uncover high-value automation opportunities—mapping current workflows and quantifying pain points via metrics tracked by prospects.
  • Define scope rigorously: clarity on in-scope vs out-of-scope workflows, dependent system integrations (ERP, payments, claims platforms), and technical guardrails.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Design & Architect

  • Translate business needs into technical architectures (data sources, triggers, tools, decision logic, and integrations).
  • Build proof-of-concept agents tailored to each client’s stack, often leveraging shipped vertical solutions (finance ops, KYC/AML, healthcare portals, logistics).
  • Partner with product teams—your hands-on discoveries directly shape our roadmap.

Demo & Present

  • Deliver live demos using AI/prototyping tools when needed to showcase solutions against real-world data.
  • Present technical and business cases to both Boards and DevOps teams, ensuring a single, shared understanding.

Win & Hand Off

  • Set business-aligned success criteria for technical proofs and tie them to outcomes buyers care about (e.g., cost savings, efficiency gains).
  • Lead critical reviews on:
    • Security/compliance (Lua’s managed infrastructure vs. client’s IP protections)
    • Data isolation & sovereignty
  • Scope deals meet expectations, risk-based prioritization, and clear transitions to Delivery.

Partner with Sales

  • Collaborate with Account Executives to drive technical validation, decision momentum, and portfolio-fit efficiency.
  • Handle hard questions proactively—data, guardrails, and risk distribution.

Requirements

Must-Haves

  • 5+ years in customer-facing technical roles—Solutions Engineering, Pre-Sales, Forward Deployed Engineering, or similar.
  • Expertise in:
    • Tech discovery: map workflows, stakeholder interviews, and automation opportunity identification.
    • Architecture design: map problems-to-solutions (data/triggers/tools), justify components, and deliver to business impact.
    • PoC & Pilot execution: rapid refinement of mockups, involve engineers if needed.
    • Technical security reviews: ownership of data integrity, compliance, and governance.
    • Sales partnerships: co-building the deal story with aligned language for client stakeholders.
  • Technical fluency:
    • Writing/debugging code in at least one scripting language (Lua preferred).
    • CLI and system integration familiarity (APIs, middleware).
  • Clarity & excellence:
    • Present to executives and engineers with equal authority—no loss of precision.
    • Independent prioritization and deadline alignment across deadlines.
