Solutions Architect – Root Platform
Mission
Your mission as a Solutions Architect at Root is to be a Root Platform subject-matter expert across client engagements, translating Root’s modular, API-first architecture into optimal solutions for clients across the full client journey.
You will have impact and influence from first sales conversations through to delivery and post-live projects. Your performance will be measured against:
- The creativity and effectiveness of your solutions
- Your ability to build trust and confidence with prospects and clients
- The alignment of your solutions with Root’s guidelines (referred to as Root’s rails)
You will work closely with our Delivery teams to address the gap between a client’s requirements and Root’s capabilities. Your focus involves:
- Figuring out scalable, realistic solutions aligned with Root’s rails
- Configuring the platform to solve specific problems
- Providing working prototypes, architecture diagrams, and clear documentation for ** handover to Development teams** to meet on-time, in-budget delivery
Collaboration will occur across Sales, Delivery, Product, Client Success, and Engineering to align Root’s understanding of client and market needs with the platform’s offerings.
Onboarding Expectations
Achieving fluency in Root’s architecture is key to this role. During onboarding, you will be expected to:
- Build solid relationships across the client base
- Be comfortable engaging with:
- Decision-makers
- Operational teams
- Develop hands-on experience in:
- Building a Root Product Module (end-to-end)
- Architecting a complete Root solution (end-to-end), including:
- Integrations
- Middleware
- Premium Collection Modules
- Translate business requirements into clear Root specifications
- Interface effectively with Root’s:
- Delivery
- Client Success
- Product and Engineering functions
- Understand, embrace, and apply Root’s values, ways of work, and brand promises

- Identify and flag dealbreakers, constraints, or unrealistic demands before contributing to wasted effort

- Remain engaged with the client throughout their journey with Root
- Guide clients toward Root-aligned best practices and ensure their products integrate smoothly with Root’s platform
- Feed insights from clients back to Product to inform platform evolution

Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a technical or scientific field (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science) or comparable experience
- Technical skills: Demonstrable coding skills
- Experience:
- Minimum 4 years in a solutions/sales engineering or technical implementation role
- Direct client engagement to aquire and articulate requirements
- Nice to have: Experience in insurance tech
