Solutions Design Consultant

Gleeson is partnering with a high-growth supply chain and logistics solutions provider that is transforming the way businesses optimise their warehousing, distribution, and transport operations.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Solutions Design Consultant to support the development and delivery of innovative end-to-end supply chain solutions. This is a customer-facing role that combines strategic consultancy, operational design, data analysis, and project delivery. You'll work with a diverse client base, helping organisations improve efficiency, reduce costs, and implement best-in-class logistics solutions.

Job Title: Solutions Design Consultant

Location: UK

Working Pattern: Remote with travel based on client requirements

Package: Competitive Salary + Commission + Bonus + Company Car

The Role

As a Solutions Design Consultant, you will be responsible for designing and delivering tailored supply chain, warehousing, and transport solutions that drive operational excellence and measurable business improvements.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Providing strategic consultancy to clients on supply chain optimisation and operational best practice.
  • Assessing existing warehouse, transport, and distribution operations to identify opportunities for efficiency gains and cost reductions.
  • Designing end-to-end supply chain solutions aligned with customer objectives and commercial requirements.
  • Leading warehouse and distribution centre design projects, including layout optimisation, automation assessments, and mechanisation strategies.
  • Conducting site surveys and operational reviews to develop data-driven recommendations.
  • Managing projects from initial consultation through to implementation, ensuring successful delivery against scope, budget, and timelines.
  • Supporting tender responses, solution development, and client presentations.
  • Building strong relationships with key stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Analysing operational data, financial metrics, and performance indicators to identify improvement opportunities and support decision-making.
  • Developing business cases, cost models, and ROI assessments to validate proposed solutions.
  • Implementing and optimising supply chain technologies, including Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transport Management Systems (TMS), and automation solutions.
  • Collaborating with technology providers and third-party partners to support system integration and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Working cross-functionally with operations, IT, finance, engineering, and consulting teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Managing outsourcing and procurement activities, including RFP creation, tender evaluation, and supplier selection.
  • Designing and optimising transport networks, fleet operations, and distribution strategies.
  • Staying current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices within supply chain and logistics.

  • Proven experience delivering end-to-end warehouse and transport solutions within logistics, supply chain, or consulting environments.
  • Strong background in solution design, operational improvement, and supply chain optimisation.
  • Experience managing and delivering complex tender and bid processes.
  • Ability to analyse operational and financial data and translate findings into practical, commercially viable solutions.
  • Strong understanding of P&L management and commercial performance drivers.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and engage at all levels.
  • Customer-facing experience with a strong commercial mindset and business development awareness.
  • Knowledge of warehouse automation, WMS, TMS, and broader supply chain technologies would be highly advantageous.
  • Exceptional project management, communication, and presentation skills.
