Solutions Engineer – Cloud + AI Infrastructure
About the Role
We are seeking a Solutions Engineer – Cloud + AI Infrastructure to join our sales team in the UK&I. In this role, you will:
- Help drive the adoption of Cisco’s data center, cloud, and AI-ready infrastructure solutions across industries
- Partner with customers to understand their modernization goals
- Support the design of tailored platform architectures using Cisco’s compute, networking, and cloud-native technologies
- Demonstrate how these solutions accelerate business outcomes for customers
- Bring strong infrastructure foundations and a commitment to becoming a trusted technical advisor
- Translate technical concepts for diverse audiences and deliver compelling public presentations
Who You’ll Work With
The Cloud + AI Infrastructure team delivers a scalable strategy with local execution for data center transformation and growth. We act as the worldwide go-to-market engine for compute and data center networking, capturing market transitions and enabling sellers to:
- Expand growth for customers and Cisco
- Build sales strategies
- Activate sellers and technical communities
- Accelerate good deals
Who You Are
As a Solutions Engineer, you build awareness and drive energy for platform modernization, cloud-native infrastructure, and AI-ready data centers by engaging with:
- Internal teams
- Partners
- Customers
You act as the crucial link between technical teams, account teams, and partners/customers, focusing on:
- Showcasing infrastructure solutions
- Articulating their business value
- Contributing to architectural discussions
- Designing and promoting modernization solutions
- Solving customer challenges
Travel may be required for customer meetings and industry events.

Responsibilities
- Shape customer perceptions of modernization trends and how Cisco’s solutions address them
- Collaborate with account teams, engineers, and partners to develop and refine customer-specific designs
- Deliver technical deep dives to educate customers on Cisco’s offerings (e.g., UCS, Nexus, Intersight, HyperFabric)
- Provide hands-on design guidance and remote support for complex deployments
- Demonstrate real-world use cases with Cisco’s technologies to validate business outcomes
- Align customer needs with global sales strategies
- Drive adoption of best practices in cloud-native, AI-ready infrastructure
Minimum Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in technical presales, solutions engineering, or hands-on infrastructure roles covering compute, storage, and data center networking
- Hands-on expertise with:
- Virtualization and platform modernization (e.g., VMware/VCF, RedHat OpenShift, Nutanix, KVM, hypervisor migration strategies)
- Enterprise storage platforms (e.g., NVMe, NFS, object storage) with solutions like NetApp, EMC, or comparable
- Deep understanding of:
- Data center networking fundamentals (L2/L3, VXLAN/EVPN, fabric design)
- How compute, storage, and networking integrations enable efficient data centers
- Kubernetes – core concepts, deployment models, and managing containerized workloads
- Proficiency with infrastructure automation and scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible, Terraform) and version control (Git/GitHub)
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field; an advanced degree is a plus
- Exceptional presentation skills to deliver engaging workshops on infrastructure and modernization to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience with:
- Cisco’s data center portfolio (e.g., UCS, Nexus/ACI, Intersight, HyperFabric) or comparable competitive platforms
- Cloud-native networking (e.g., Cilium/Isovalent), GitOps workflows (ArgoCD/Flux), Helm, and service mesh
- AI-ready infrastructure including:
- GPU compute optimization, high-performance fabrics (RoCE/InfiniBand)
- AI/ML reference architectures (e.g., Cisco + NVIDIA)
- Storage tailored for AI workloads
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNP/CCIE Data Center, VMware VCP, CKA/CKAD, or major cloud associate/professional certifications)
- Familiarity with:
- Data center observability and monitoring (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ThousandEyes, Splunk)
- Infrastructure security principles (e.g., zero-trust, workload identity, segmentation, policy enforcement)
