Solutions Engineer (Full-Stack, B2B Food Tech)

Location: Ghent (on-site with hybrid working options)

About Shelfion

Shelfion is an ambitious early-stage food tech start-up focused on improving shelf-life determination in the food industry. We combine advanced software with laboratory-based methodologies to help food companies accurately assess product shelf-life and food safety. Our mission is to strengthen the sustainability and resilience of food systems through scientifically grounded technology and close collaboration with industry partners. We operate in a niche B2B market, delivering high-quality, high-value solutions.

The Role

We are looking for a Full-Stack Software Developer who will take primary responsibility for the further development of our existing software platform, hosted on Google Cloud.

You will be the main technical owner of the platform. You will be the primary software developer for the platform and will work closely with a small, multidisciplinary team including food microbiologists, data scientists, and a designer. This role therefore combines technical ownership with strong communication and collaboration skills.

We welcome junior profiles and recently graduated IT engineers who are motivated to grow into a responsible role and who have an interest in scientific or data-driven applications.

What Makes This Role Unique

  • You’ll work on high-impact B2B software used by a small number of professional users, where quality, clarity, and correctness matter more than scale.
  • The software directly supports real-world food safety and shelf-life decisions, giving your work tangible impact beyond the screen.
  • You’ll collaborate closely with scientists and domain experts, translating experimental data and scientific models into practical, usable software.
  • The focus is on thoughtful engineering and problem-solving, rather than rapid feature churn or consumer-style growth metrics.
  • If you enjoy building software that supports complex decision-making and want to understand the domain behind the code, this role offers a rare and rewarding opportunity.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
