Sonographer
Band 7 Sonographer (Medical Ultrasound) – Flexible Working Available
Working Pattern
Flexible shifts available, including full-time, part-time, weekend, and flexible hours.
Essential Requirements
- Must hold a qualification in Medical Ultrasound with competence to perform and independently report ultrasound scans.
- Minimum PgCert in Medical Ultrasound, accredited by the Consortium for the Accreditation of Sonographic Education (CASE) or assessed as equivalent by the ultrasound management team.
- Essential to hold HCPC, NMC, or RCT registration.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
- Ability to mentor trainee sonographers and specialist registrars as part of a large teaching organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver a wide range of ultrasound examinations, including:
- General abdominal
- Small parts (breast, scrotum, etc.)
- Gynaecological
- MSK (musculoskeletal)
- Head & neck (H&N)
- DVT & vascular
- Paediatrics
- Obstetrics (including early pregnancy scanning)
- Work across three acute hospital sites (Leicester Royal Infirmary, Leicester General Hospital, Glenfield Hospital) and five community hospital sites.
- Manage inpatients, outpatients, and GP referrals.
- Operate high-specification scanning equipment across over 30 scan rooms, with a monthly volume of over 6,000 outpatient scans.
- Demonstrate autonomous practice, promoting best practice and high standards.
- Participate in patient-centred care, ensuring ‘Caring at its best’ through optimal experience and treatment.
