Position Objectives
The Sound & Lighting Technicians per diem role is an on-site position based in the New York City Metropolitan Area, supporting events and productions for the Borough of Fair Lawn. Responsibilities include setting up, operating, and striking sound and lighting equipment for performances, meetings, and community events; ensuring proper configuration, safe installation, and reliable operation of all systems. The technician will collaborate with event organizers and performers to meet technical requirements, adjust lighting and audio cues during live events, and troubleshoot equipment issues as they arise. Additional duties may include routine maintenance of equipment, assisting with inventory, and following borough safety protocols and standards. The role offers flexible scheduling, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

The Fair Lawn Community Theater is seeking experienced per diem Sound & Lighting Technicians
We are looking for reliable individuals with some experience in live event or theater production who are available to support performances, rehearsals, and special events.
Position Details
- Evenings and weekends
- Flexible scheduling
- Starting pay: $20-25 per hour

Minimum Requirements
Sound and lighting (ETC ION) experience preferred
Qualifications
Desirable Training and Experience:
- Candidates should possess skills in lighting design and general lighting for events and stage environments.
- Candidates should possess skills in lighting control and stage lighting, including console operation and cue programming.
- Candidates should possess skills in electrical wiring related to lighting setups, with a focus on safety and code compliance.
- Knowledge of basic sound reinforcement, audio equipment setup, and live event production is beneficial.
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and lift as required.
- Strong communication, reliability, and teamwork skills, with the ability to work under time constraints and changing event needs.
- Prior experience in theatrical, concert, or municipal event production is preferred; relevant technical certifications or training are a plus.
