Sous Chef
Sous Chef – Experienced Gastro-Pub Chef Sought
About the Role
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Sous Chef who thrives in a fast-paced, high-quality kitchen environment, focused on delivering fresh, traditional British gastro-pub cuisine.
This role requires collaboration with the Head Chef and Senior Sous Chef to support kitchen operations, maintain exceptional food standards, and ensure seamless service during peak periods. Ideal candidates should excel in leading teams, managing high-volume production, and upholding the highest levels of food quality, hygiene, and presentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Work alongside the Head Chef to manage day-to-day kitchen operations
- Take full charge of kitchen leadership when the Head Chef is absent
- Prepare and execute fresh, high-quality dishes to specification
- Enforce strict food safety, hygiene, and health & safety compliance
- Assist with menu planning, seasonal adaptations, and recipe development
- Oversee stock control, ordering, and supplier relations
- Train, mentor, and develop junior chefs to ensure team growth
- Monitor consistency, quality, and presentation across all dishes
- Collaborate with front-of-house teams to ensure smooth service delivery
- Foster a positive, professional, and team-focused kitchen culture
