  • Contract Type: Full-time, permanent (52-week)
  • Salary: £36,000 (annum)

About the Role

We are recruiting a committed and ambitious Sous Chef to join the kitchen team at Milton Abbey. You’ll:

  • Assist in food preparation and uphold high standards for daily meals and events.
  • Collaborate alongside the Head Chef to support kitchen operations.
  • Play a crucial role in adapting recipes to ensure smooth, timely service.

The role aligns with Holroyd Howe’s commitment to excellence, combining a focus on creative menu planning, safety compliance, and insight into the distinct needs of our young clientele.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations.
  • Motivate and lead the team to deliver high standards of food quality and service.
  • Ensure food safety and compliance with allergen controls are consistently maintained.
  • Contribute to innovative menu planning.
  • Oversee mise en place for efficient service during operations.
  • Assist with events and functions, complementing school life.

Candidate Profile (Requirements)

  • Preferred: Experience as a Sous Chef within a contract catering environment, ideally in independent education or a high-profile commercial setting.
  • Passionate about fresh, seasonal, and visually appealing food.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to high food safety standards.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate efficiently.
  • Flexible and proactive approach to address operational challenges.
