Sous Chef – White Lion | Join the Vintage Inns Family

As a Sous Chef at the White Lion, you’ll drive our commercial kitchens with skill, warmth and a passion for great food. Leading a team of passionate chefs, you’ll help us create unforgettable dining experiences that leave our guests smiling—day in, day out.


About the Role

You’ll be part of Vintage Inns, our charming collection of countryside pubs brimming with roaring log fires, hearty traditional dishes, and the kind of warm, welcoming atmosphere our guests love. At Vintage Inns, your Sous Chef responsibilities will be multi-faceted:

  • Act as section leader, ensuring seamless workflow and a cohesive team.
  • Step into the role of Head Chef when necessary.
  • Train and mentor your team, developing their skills to match the restaurant’s size and ambition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional food quality while hitting revenue goals—your team’s success is your success.
  • Train and inspire your team, fostering a culture of high standards, collaboration, and resilience.
  • Support the Head Chef with purchasing, food prep, stock management, and operational tasks.
  • Master our achieved menu—consistent execution is key.
  • Manage the kitchen team, setting a positive example through communication and leadership.
  • Ensure flawless compliance with health, hygiene, and food safety standards.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Chef or Sous Chef in commercial kitchens.
  • A love for coaching, teamwork, and the practical demands of running a kitchen.
  • Confidence in executing restaurant-quality dishes under pressure.
