Sous Chef, The Leicester Arms, Penshurst
The Leicester Arms is looking for a talented and reliable Sous Chef to join our kitchen team.
We are a quality country inn with rooms, serving fresh, seasonal food in a busy pub and dining environment. We are looking for someone who can support the Head Chef, help lead the team, and maintain high standards across prep, service, cleanliness, and food safety.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a fresh-food kitchen, a calm and organised approach, and the confidence to run service when required. You will need to be hands-on, consistent, and passionate about delivering great food.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen
- Help lead and motivate the kitchen team
- Maintain high standards of food quality and presentation
- Ensure sections are prepped, organised, and ready for service
- Follow food safety, allergen, cleaning, and compliance procedures
- Assist with stock control, ordering, and reducing wastage
- Run service in the Head Chef’s absence when required

What We’re Looking For
- Previous Sous Chef or strong Junior Sous Chef experience
- Fresh-food kitchen experience
- Good organisation and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Positive attitude and team-focused approach
