Sous Chef
Hours: 5 days (Wednesday to Sunday)
Location: The Jockey Inn, Pershore Road, Baughton, Earl’s Croome, WR8 9DQ
Salary: £28,200 – £35,000 per annum
Job Description
We’re looking for an experienced and hands-on Sous Chef to join the kitchen team at The Jockey Inn, a well-loved countryside pub and restaurant serving freshly prepared, quality food in a relaxed and welcoming setting.
Working closely with the Head Chef, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day running of the kitchen, helping to lead the team, maintain high standards, and ensure every dish leaving the pass reflects the quality we’re known for.
The Role
- Supporting the Head Chef with daily kitchen operations and service
- Leading and supervising the kitchen team, including training and mentoring junior chef
- Preparing and cooking dishes to a consistently high standard
- Ensuring food quality, presentation, and portion control meet our standards
- Maintaining excellent food safety, hygiene, and health & safety practices
- Assisting with stock control, ordering, and minimising waste
- Working closely with front-of-house to ensure smooth, well-timed service
- Taking charge of the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence

What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef or in a supervisory kitchen role
- Strong cooking skills and a solid background in fresh food preparation
- Confident leadership skills with a supportive, team-focused approach
- Good working knowledge of food safety and kitchen compliance
- Level 2 Food Safety qualification (essential)
- Up-to-date Allergen Awareness certificate
- Well organised, reliable and calm under pressure
