Here at The Grantley Arms, we pride ourselves on a fantastic work environment serving the best beers, wines, cocktails & coffees alongside stunning in-season food.
Situated on the outskirts of Guildford, in the stunning village of Wonersh, we’ve been providing the locals with a place to come together for over 500 years. Our private dining room even used to be the old village bakery! Our amazing community-driven country pub has onsite parking as well as a reliable bus route between the towns of Guildford and Cranleigh.

What we look for in a Sous Chef:
We’re looking for a Sous Chef to join the team at the Grantley Arms in stunning country village surroundings. We cook fresh and seasonal produce – whether that is sourced from nearby farms or seafood that is caught and landed daily. You’ll be working alongside our Head Chef, Tomas, to create fantastic plates of food, empower and develop the team and look after all aspects of Kitchen Management in our food-destination village pub. Over 50% of our Head Chef appointments are internal, and alongside development in house, there are a range of courses and opportunities that we can provide outside of the four walls of the pub to help you further your career.

As the successful Sous Chef you will:
- Have experience championing excellent service through quality food
- Demonstrate a passion for leading and developing a team
- Be an active hands-on Chef with excellent communication skills
- Be responsible and able to manage the kitchen team rota, training and all health and safety effectively at all times
- Working alongside your Head Chef, you will be able to demonstrate your creativity and ability by helping to design and deliver new dishes for our menus and daily specials
- Demonstrate great planning and organisational skills, necessary to maintain effective controls with regard to both GP and labour
- Have a pro-active approach to driving sales and delivering growth, through positive engagement with both kitchen and front of house teams
