Sous Chef Opportunity at Kimpton Charlotte Square and BABA Restaurant, Edinburgh

A fantastic opportunity for a Sous Chef to join our team at Kimpton Charlotte Square and the extremely popular BABA Restaurant, in Edinburgh!

As a Sous Chef you will be contracted to 40 hours per week guaranteed, spaced over 3 and a half days– giving you more days off to spend doing what you love, and you will earn £38,947.12 salary, plus service charge!

Kimpton Charlotte Square Hotel brings together traditional Edinburgh architecture with an exciting and fresh indoor feel, offering our guests a modern luxurious stay. Welcoming locals to relax in our Garden area (a must visit), experiencing mouth-watering food in BABA restaurant, or guests from far and wide being pampered in our state-of-the-art Spa – we cover it all!

BABA restaurant sits within Kimpton Charlotte Square Hotel and is an exciting mix of mezze, charcoal grill dishes and a unique cocktail and wine list. Popular with both locals and those from far-and-wide visiting Edinburgh, we can host between 250 and 400 covers a day. This role perfect for those who love a thrilling, fast-paced environment… you can be plating up to 1000 dishes a night between the team of up to 5 chefs each shift.

As a Sous Chef, your main duties and responsibilities will be being accountable for kitchen operation including production, cleanliness and deputise in the absence of our Executive Head Chef. You will work in a team to ensure our food is served at the highest standards.

We are lucky to have an open kitchen with a charcoal grill, allowing you to work within a large kitchen team with plenty opportunity to learn and grow within our organisation (and the perk of working alongside our talented Executive and Head Chefs!).

To succeed as a Sous Chef, you will need:

  • To have been a Sous chef for 1-2 years within a global hotel brand or restaurant of the same classification / cuisine (as minimum) with comparable size and complexity
  • To be experienced catering meetings, social events and restaurants – experience in Lebanese cuisine is a plus!
  • To have completed level 3 Food Safety certification and have knowledge in HACCP
  • Knowledge of appropriate working to brand standards relating to food and the ability to create and deliver appropriate menus, using appropriate suppliers and product
  • To be part of external networks and up to date with critical issues and trends in food
  • Technical skills to work on every section for every service period in the kitchen!
