Sous Chef at Stationers’ Hall – Stationers' Hall, City of London

About the Role

Searcys is seeking a passionate and talented Sous Chef to join its team at Stationers’ Hall, supporting the Executive/Head Chef while upholding the Searcys brand and delivering unforgettable culinary experiences.

The Grade I listed Stationers’ Hall, built in 1673, is a historic Livery Hall offering one of the finest venues in the City of London for corporate events and private functions. This role offers the opportunity to shape exquisite menus while mentoring junior chefs and maintaining the legacy of Searcys.

Job Details

  • Employment Type: Permanent, Full Time
  • Hours per Week: 45 hours (mostly Monday to Friday)
  • Salary: £43,000 per annum
  • Location: Stationers’ Hall, City of London (near St Paul’s Cathedral)

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver seamless food/service to the highest standards, including assisting senior chefs across different business areas.
  • Manage the kitchen brigade in the absence of the Executive Chef.
  • Train & mentor junior staff to achieve consistent excellence.
  • Collaborate with kitchen teams to plan and execute food provision across all areas.
  • Coordinate supplier orders to meet demand without disrupting service.
  • Monitor stock levels, place necessary orders, and control waste.
  • Maintain food presentation standards and adhere to menus as agreed.
  • Lead problem-solving with an analytical approach and prioritise Health & Safety.

Requirements

  • Substantial experience as a Sous Chef, preferably in Event, Hotel, or High-End Restaurant settings.
  • Proven ability to inspire and mentor kitchen teams while delivering outstanding culinary work.
  • Strong culinary creativity to develop innovative dishes for events and menus.
  • Exceptional organisational skills and leadership to foster a professional, client-focused environment.
  • A deep understanding of Health & Safety regulations in professional kitchens.
  • Passion for maintaining Searcys’ prestigious legacy and upholding its brand ambassadorship.
