We’re searching for a warm, passionate, and dedicated individual to join our award-winning team as a Sous Chef at Edenbridge Manor Care Home in Kent. If this aligns with your values, we’d love to hear from you!


About the Role

As Sous Chef, your primary responsibility will be to support the Head Chef in leading a culinary team, ensuring a nutritionally balanced, high-quality, and resident-centric service that contributes to overall well-being—all while operating within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing modified diets that are appetising, well-balanced, and compliant with IDDSI guidelines
  • Supervising and training culinary staff, demonstrating and instructing unqualified team members on cost-effective food preparation
  • Ensuring strict adherence to food safety protocols, maintaining the highest hygiene standards
  • Supporting the culinary team in embedding Avery’s Food Safety Management System
  • Remaining adaptable and flexible to cover diverse responsibilities as needed

About You

To succeed in this role, you’ll embody Avery’s core values: caring, support, honesty, respect, and accountability.

Ideal Candidate:

✔ Qualified with a relevant catering qualification (e.g., City & Guilds 706/1 & 706/2 or NVQ Level 2 in Professional Cookery or equivalent) ✔ Minimum of 1 year’s experience in catering ✔ Deeply committed to delivering exceptional residential care through great food ✔ Adaptable and resilient, ready to juggle varied responsibilities efficiently
